seven academic disciplines

Go deeper in your discipline.

The Master's cycle is designed for depth and direction: advanced specialization, applied research, and the ability to lead technical work rather than only perform it.

  • Computer Science

Advanced theory, algorithms and systems thinking, taken to where new approaches are designed rather than applied.

  • Software Engineering

Architecture at scale, and the engineering judgement that decides how large systems are built and sustained.

  • Information Technology

Designing and governing the infrastructure an organisation depends on, including how it is secured and recovered.

  • Information Systems

How technology strategy is set, justified and carried through an organisation that has to live with it.

  • Cybersecurity

Threat modelling, defensive architecture, and the research behind emerging attack and defence.

  • Data Science

Advanced modelling, experimental design, and a working grasp of the limits of what data can support.

  • Data Analytics

Analytical methods applied to decisions that carry consequence, and how to communicate uncertainty honestly.

The learning experience

Study in depth. Lead in practice.

The Master's cycle is designed around problems that do not have a published answer, and around the judgement needed to decide what to do when the evidence is incomplete.

  • Advanced specialization

Depth in a chosen discipline, taken past the point where the standard answers run out.

  • Applied research

Designed around investigation that produces something defensible, not a literature summary.

  • Complex problem-solving

Problems with competing constraints and no single correct solution, which is what senior technical work actually is.

  • AI fluency and emerging technologies

Advanced use of AI within the discipline, including how to evaluate what these systems produce.

  • Technology leadership

Setting technical direction, carrying a decision, and being accountable for it in front of people who will question it.

Progression

Where the Master’s can lead.

Academic pathways designed to support continued growth and specialization.

The Master’s is the most advanced level in the BOLO IT architecture, designed for specialist and leadership work rather than as a step toward a further credential.

Progression between levels is not automatic. Admission requirements, credit recognition and articulation arrangements will be published once they are formally established.
