Last updated: 15 September 2026
Who we are
This website is operated by BOLO Institute of Technology (“BOLO IT”, “we” or “us”), a higher-education institution in Cameroon. We are responsible for the personal information collected through boloinstitute.tech.
Information you give us
We collect the information you choose to submit through the forms on this site.
- Student application: your first and last name, email address, phone number, country and city; whether you are a prospective student, parent or guardian, or working professional; the academic level and field you are interested in and when you would like to begin; your highest qualification, where you took it and the year; and anything you choose to tell us about your goals.
- Contact form: your name, email address, phone number if you give one, the topic and your message. For careers enquiries you can also upload a CV.
- Job application: your full name and any other names; date and place of birth; nationality; identity document type and number; email address, phone number, and current and previous addresses; education, professional memberships and employment history; details of your current employer and referees; whether you have a criminal record and any details you give; the consents and declaration you confirm and your signature; and the documents you upload, such as your CV, certificates, identity document and police clearance.
Information collected automatically
- A cookie named “bolo_locale” that remembers which language you chose. It lasts up to one year.
- How you reached the site: marketing tags in the link you followed (such as utm_source), the website that referred you and the first page you visited. This is kept in your browser for the current visit only, and reaches us only if you submit an application.
- Standard technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, which our hosting provider records in server logs to operate and protect the site.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics or tracking tools.
How we use your information
- To review your application or enquiry and respond to you.
- To contact you about your application, admission or enquiry.
- For job applications, to assess your application and, where you have given consent, to verify your credentials, carry out a background check and contact your referees.
- To understand which channels bring people to BOLO IT, using the arrival information described above.
- To operate and secure the website, including preventing spam and abuse.
- To meet our legal obligations.
CV auto-fill on the job application
When you choose a CV file at the start of the job application, the site may send that file to Anthropic, an artificial intelligence service provider, to suggest entries for the form. This happens when you select the file.
The suggestions are shown to you to check and correct. Nothing is added to your application unless you submit it, and the suggestions never fill in your consents, criminal record answers, signature or identity document number.
If you would rather your CV was not processed this way, do not upload it at that step. Type your details instead, and contact us to arrange another way to send your CV.
Who we share your information with
- Service providers that host and store information on our behalf: Vercel (website hosting) and Google (Google Sheets and Google Drive, where submissions and uploaded documents are kept).
- Anthropic, only for the optional CV auto-fill described above.
- For job applications, referees and the organisations involved in the credential and background checks you consent to.
- Authorities or others where we are required to by law.
We do not sell your personal information.
Where your information is stored
Our service providers may store or process your information outside Cameroon, including in the United States.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, such as running admissions and recruitment and responding to questions about a decision, and for as long as the law requires. After that we delete it or make it anonymous.
How we protect it
Submitted information and documents are stored in private accounts that are not publicly accessible, and this website uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of sending or storing information is completely secure, but we work to protect yours.
Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you can ask us to give you a copy of your personal information, correct it, or delete it, and you can withdraw a consent you gave. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
