Keep the campus safe, and feeling safe.

BOLO IT is recruiting two Security Officers to protect the campus, its people and its property — access control, visitor monitoring, patrols and incident response, on a site where students and staff should feel secure without feeling policed.

The institution

BOLO Institute of Technology is a higher-education institution in Cameroon, architected around three pathways — Higher National Diploma, Bachelor's and Master's — and being developed to prepare professionals, innovators, researchers and entrepreneurs across science, technology, health, agriculture, business and the applied professions, for opportunities in Cameroon, across Africa and internationally.

BOLO IT is being built around a distinctive educational model: rigorous academics combined with hands-on laboratories, real-world projects, internships, professional certifications, mentorship and instruction shaped by experienced technology practitioners. The institution is intentionally globally oriented, AI-enabled and Silicon Valley-inspired.

A student educated at BOLO IT in Cameroon should leave with the academic foundation, practical capability, AI fluency, professional exposure and confidence to compete with technology talent anywhere in the world.

The opportunity

Two officers cover a campus attended by young people, visited by families and holding valuable laboratory and technology equipment. The work is access control, visitor management, patrols, opening and closing, and calm handling of the incidents that occur on any campus.

Leadership mandate

  • Control who enters the campus, and know who is on it.
  • Protect students and staff, and the equipment the institution depends on.
  • Handle incidents calmly and record them accurately.
  • Be a presence students find reassuring rather than intimidating.

Core responsibilities

Access control

Manage entry and exit for students, staff, contractors and deliveries. Verify identity and maintain the access record.

Visitor monitoring

Receive, log and direct visitors. Ensure they are expected, escorted where required, and signed out.

Patrols & site security

Patrol buildings and grounds, secure classrooms, offices and laboratories, and open and close the site to schedule.

Incident response & reporting

Respond to incidents, accidents and emergencies. Escalate promptly and record what happened clearly.

Required qualifications

  • Secondary education, with security training or certification an advantage.
  • Practical security experience, ideally on a school, campus or comparable public site.
  • Physically fit and able to work shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Able to write a clear, factual incident report.
  • Working ability in English or French, with some command of the other.

The leader we are looking for

This role suits someone watchful and even-tempered, who can hold a rule firmly without turning an ordinary situation into a confrontation.

Vigilance
Notices what is out of place before it becomes an incident.
Composure
Stays calm and courteous when someone else is not.
Consistency
Applies the same procedure at 6am as at 6pm.
Approachability
A student in difficulty would think to come to them.
